It’s PbR’s last show of the semester!

You don’t want to miss this great opportunity, consider it an early present to yourself, and whomever you drag along with you.

And we’ve got a present for you, I can’t tell you exactly what it is, but they have two legs each and do improv. You’ve never seen them before, and you won’t want to miss it.

Hey everybody, check it out. Paperback Rhino is is performing this Thursday (as usual, haven’t you figured out our schedule yet?). This time however, we’re performing TWO HOURS EARLIER at 7:00pm. Why, you ask? Because this Thursday is the IC[RED] Couture for a Cause Event. Here’s the schedule of events:

7:00 pm: Paperback Rhino (that’s us! Woohoo!!)

8:00 pm: Project [RED]Way! Anything-but-clothes [RED] fashion show.

9:00 pm: Broken Spokes (featuring PbR?) will rock out to finish off the event

Admission is free, but all donations go towards Partners in Health Clinics.

The goal: raise $1,280 – buys a year’s supply of
ARVs for 10 people living with HIV/AIDS

Come see Iowa City’s longest running improv group Paperback Rhino perform a blend of short-form and long-form improv. But even more exciting than that come see two new players!

That’s right, two new players. Take a look here and you’ll notice we added 7 new members. Now that they’ve been through Rhino boot camp, we’re ready to unleash them upon the world. You’ll be seeing their pretty faces appearing in the next few shows, so don’t miss out!

In case you haven’t noticed, Paperback Rhino has called Public Space One its home, so you can see us every other Thursday, at 9:00pm at psOne, underneath the Jefferson Building, right next to Subway.

Mark Salisbury (President of the UI COGS) of Comics in Action, along with a team of additional graduate assistants, is assembling a series of fund-raising performances for the Artists’ Recovery Fund (ARF). The fund is designed to help local musicians and artists recover nearly $200,000 worth of instruments, tools and materials lost in the Iowa Flood of 2008 in Iowa City.

The first in the series was held Oct. 23 at Old Brick near downtown Iowa City. The performance featured graduate students in the UI School of Music, along with the improv comedy troupe Comics In Action.

The second Old Brick performance will be held Nov. 13th at 7:30pm; featuring singer/songwriter Greg Brown, along with local musician Sam Knutson, improv comedy troups Comics In Action and yours truly, Paperback Rhino!

Tickets are $25 and a canned good in advance, $30 and a can at the door. Don’t miss this opportunity to help out local artists, listen to some amazing music, and laugh along with the best of the local improv scene.

Hey everybody! Paperback Rhino is back for their second of many shows at Public Space One this Thursday at 9.

Bring $2 and a friend, and get ready for a non-stop good time.

Paperback Rhino is returning to Public Space One (psONE) for the first time in 4 years! We are very excited to perform in psONE again and hope to see all of you there for the first show of many.

Paperback Rhino started in psONE which was then located above The Deadwood. Now psONE is located in the basement of the Jefferson Building in downtown Iowa City. The door is to the left of Subway. In order to keep it running, psONE needs a little bit of money. In order to give them a little bit of money the shows now cost $2. Since you have to pay we stepped it up and PbR is better than ever.

Wednesday and Thursday before the show look for us on the Pentacrest handing out flyers for the show. There’s a suprise!

WAIT! There’s more! As if simply seeing Paperback Rhino perform wasn’t enough, we’re taking on new members! That’s right, you too can be a part of Iowa City’s longest running improv comedy group. If that sounds interesting to you, then I suggest you check out the upcoming Auditions.

Paperback Rhino, Iowa City’s longest running improv comedy group wants you! Whether you’re an improv veteran or just realized that thing you were doing on the playground as a 6 year-old had a name, we look forward to seeing you at auditions.

Auditions will be held at the UI Hillel, on the corner of Market and Dubuque. We’re not affiliated with the Hillel, they’re just really really nice and let us use their space. Auditions are two days only, and you should try to come to both. Call-backs will be held over the weekend (Sunday).
